NHAI Changes Toll Plaza Banks: What It Means for Your Highway Trips
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is making some changes at toll plazas to keep your highway journeys smooth. Here’s what you need to know:
NHAI oversees many highways in India, and at 247 toll plazas, Paytm Bank helps collect tolls. But because of some rules from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Paytm Bank can’t do certain things after February 29. This might affect how you pay tolls if you use fast tags from Paytm Bank.
Fast tags are like special stickers for your car that help you pay tolls quickly. Lots of people use them. But with Paytm Bank facing these rules, you might have trouble adding money to your fast tag account, which could make paying tolls hard.

To make sure tolls keep getting collected smoothly, NHAI is moving toll plaza duties from Paytm Bank to other banks. They’re doing this for 247 toll plazas all over India. Some are run by state agencies, some by NHAI, and others by private companies. NHAI wants to finish this by February 29, and they’re setting up a special team to make sure it goes well.
While this change happens, if you have a fast tag from Paytm Bank, you can still use the money in your account to pay tolls until March 15. You can also take out any extra money you have in your account.
NHAI wants to make sure tolls keep getting collected without any problems, even with these changes. They’re working hard to switch to new banks smoothly, following all the rules and making sure everything works well.
Even though it might be a bit tricky, NHAI is focused on making sure these changes happen without causing any trouble for people who use the highways. They want to keep highways running smoothly for everyone who travels on them.
