Prime Minister Modi Launches Campaign with ₹19,100 Crore Development Projects in Bulandshahr
Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign by unveiling development projects worth over ₹19,100 crore at a rally in Bulandshahr, West Uttar Pradesh. This move comes on the heels of the recent Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration, emphasizing a blend of faith (aastha) and development (vikas) in the party’s election pitch.
Strategic Focus: With the rally strategically planned after the Ayodhya events, PM Modi is expected to leverage both faith and development as he sets the tone for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The BJP has organized extensive events focusing on the Ram temple to mobilize party cadre and supporters.
Key Location – Bulandshahr: Bulandshahr, known for its diverse population, including Lodh Rajputs, Jats, Gujjars, Muslims, and Dalits, holds significance as a traditional support base for the BJP. The party aims to strengthen its position in the region, which has been a stronghold since 1991, except for a brief interruption in 2009.
Opposition’s Strategies: In response to BJP’s plans, the opposition, including the Samajwadi Party and Congress, has focused on West Uttar Pradesh. Both parties aim to garner support from diverse communities to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the region.

Key Projects Launched: The projects inaugurated by PM Modi include a medical college named after former CM Kalyan Singh, a 173-km-long double-line electrified section on the dedicated freight corridor, a four-lane highway connecting Aligarh and Kannauj, Indian Oil’s Tundla-Gawaria pipeline, and an integrated township in Greater Noida, among others.
Strategic Kickoff for 2024: The launch of development projects coupled with the strategic choice of Bulandshahr as the campaign starting point underscores PM Modi’s approach to address both faith-based sentiments and development needs. The BJP aims to secure a strong position in West Uttar Pradesh as it gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
