HPCL and Ultraviolette Automotive Forge Alliance to Propel EV Charging Network Expansion
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is gearing up to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) for two-wheelers by partnering with Ultraviolette Automotive, an electric bike manufacturer. The collaboration aims to establish EV charging networks along state and national highways, with the initial focus on the Southern region. The announcement was made at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Show, where both companies shared a pavilion featuring Ultraviolette Automotive’s flagship model, the high-performance electric motorcycle F77.
The charging infrastructure will be rolled out initially at HPCL’s existing nationwide energy stations. There are plans to extend the network to additional locations, tapping into potential supplementary business opportunities in the later stages of the collaboration. This strategic move aligns with the broader objective of supporting the growth of electric mobility in India.

Ultraviolette Automotive, based in Bangalore, launched its first electric motorcycle, the F77, in November 2022, featuring two variants – Original and Recon – with variations in peak output, battery capacity, and range. The company aims to introduce its second model, the F99, to the Indian market next year, further expanding its electric vehicle portfolio.
The EV charging infrastructure initiative is not the first foray by HPCL into the electric mobility space. In April last year, the company awarded a tender to Statiq for the installation of over 500 chargers at its outlets across various states. Additionally, HPCL collaborated with Hero MotoCorp in 2022 to jointly establish charging infrastructure to support the growing number of electric two-wheelers.
This collaborative effort between HPCL and Ultraviolette Automotive signifies a proactive step toward building a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, addressing the critical need for convenient charging solutions and contributing to the broader sustainable mobility goals in India.
