Bhajan Lal Sharma Emerges as BJP’s Pick for Chief Minister in Rajasthan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA from the Sanganer turnout constituency, as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The visualization follows the party’s thumping victory in the recently terminated elections, securing 115 seats out of the 199 that went to polls in the state.

Earlier today, a inside team of BJP observers, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, arrived in Jaipur to oversee the legislature party meeting where the Chief Minister-elect was chosen. The team included Vinod Tawde, Sarok Pandey, and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, the BJP in-charge for Rajasthan. They were welcomed by CP Joshi and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who was one of the probables for the Chief Ministerial post.

The inside team did not unroll the contenders for the coveted post, but names like MP-turned-MLA Balaknath, Vasundhara Raje, Kirori Lal Meena, and Diya Kumari had been circulating in political circles. The BJP’s surprise nomination reflects a strategic visualization in Rajasthan, aligning with the party’s success in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where they chose Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Deo Sai, respectively, considering the caste equations in view of the 2024 unstipulated elections.
