Arvind Kejriwal Summoned by ED for Questioning on December 21 in Liquor Policy Scam Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, calling him for questioning on December 21 in connection with the so-called liquor policy scam case. This marks the second time the Chief Minister has been summoned by the organ for his statement regarding the case.

The initial summons to Kejriwal was on November 2, which he couldn’t shepherd due to prior commitments linked to the recently terminated turnout elections. Now, with the new summons, the ED aims to delve into the details of the so-called Delhi excise policy case, seeking Kejriwal’s statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

AAP leader Sandeep Pathak criticized the government, ultimatum a pattern of targeting those who voice opposition versus Prime Minister Modi. He pointed out examples like Sanjay Singh, Satyendar Jain, and Manish Sisodia, all facing suspension or trespassing without expressing dissent.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been vocal well-nigh its concern, alleging that the ED plans to trespassing Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy scam. AAP has initiated a campaign, gathering public opinion on whether Kejriwal should protract as Chief Minister or resign if arrested.

Notably, two tropical toadies of Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, have been in jail for months on money laundering charges related to the so-called liquor policy scam.

The specimen revolves virtually the excise policy for 2021-22, where licenses to liquor traders tangibly favored unrepealable dealers who were accused of paying bribes for favorable treatment, leading to concerns of cartelization. The AAP has unceasingly denied these allegations. In response to the summons, Kejriwal’s party has sought the public’s opinion on his future, questioning whether he should protract governing from jail if arrested. Meanwhile, Delhi government officials have spoken that Kejriwal will embark on a 10-day Vipassana meditation undertow starting December 19 at an undisclosed location. The developments surrounding Kejriwal’s summons have sparked political tensions, with both the government and the opposition closely watching the unfolding events.
