Allies Demand Release of Navalny’s Body Amid Controversy

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s friends and supporters are demanding that the Russian government give back his body to his family and lawyer. They say the government is deliberately keeping his body away from them. Navalny was announced dead in a prison in the Arctic on Friday, and there are lots of questions about what really happened.

Navalny’s friends, along with many Russians who respected him, were arrested by the police when they tried to pay their respects to him at memorials across the country. At first, some people didn’t believe that Navalny had died, but later his team confirmed it. They think he was murdered and that the Russian government took his body to hide evidence of how he died.

According to Navalny’s spokesperson, the police said they won’t give his body back until they finish investigating next week. But Navalny’s team doesn’t believe them because they say his body isn’t even where they were told it would be.

Another one of Navalny’s friends said they haven’t released the body because they haven’t figured out how he died yet. But Navalny’s team says that’s not true and they’re lying to avoid giving the body back.

International Outcry and Political Fallout

Navalny’s death has made people all around the world upset. Leaders from different countries have said they’re sorry, and some blame Russian President Vladimir Putin for what happened. President Joe Biden from the United States even said they might punish Russia for Navalny’s death.

But the Russian government hasn’t said anything about it yet. The leaders of some big countries got together and had a moment of silence to remember Navalny. They’re really mad at Putin, but he hasn’t said anything about it.

Protests and Crackdowns

People in Russia are protesting because they’re angry about Navalny’s death. But the police are stopping them and arresting hundreds of people. Navalny’s supporters are saying the government is trying to hide the truth by not giving back his body.
